Bristol in Bloom – Silver Award!
Chloe and Sara were delighted to represent the school during the Summer holidays and went to Ashton Gate stadium to accept an award from the Lord Mayor of Bristol in the annual Bristol in Bloom Award ceremony. We nervously waited with around 170 others and were thrilled when we were called up to win a Silver Award! Well done to Mr Wardle for his green fingers and making the grounds look so lovely and to gardening club for their efforts too. Below is what the judges had to say.
Cleve House Independent School ~ 66% Silver
Progress has been made from the good start last year, a garden diary was good to see as were the new vegetable planting areas. The children had sown seeds and planted on, and their ideas for planting both flowers, wild flowers and vegetables was encouraging.
The garden design work for the pond area by the Green Council is a positive step forward towards completion of this project, however it would have been advantageous to be able to discuss this with the children involved. The attractive placement of planters around the playground soften what otherwise would be a grey area. An active approach to raising funds has proved beneficial, forging good relationships with local businesses and the community.
